Summary

Two white bats look over the bloodied body of Thomas. One named Michal, tells the second one, Gabil, to drag the man further into their forest. The two, three-foot bats take him to a small clearing where Gabil calls the black bats the Shataiki and says they nearly killed Thomas. Michal asks Gabil if he has the water. A woman named Rachelle arrives and is stunned by Thomas’ gruesome injuries. She refers to the white bats as the Roush and asks who he is. They tell her that Thomas did not drink the water from the black forest. She is disturbed by the amount of blood on Thomas’ body. Before Thomas is healed, Rachelle looks for a mark on his forehead that would signify that he is pledged to another woman. She is overjoyed to find no mark and decides she...
