Aboard the Koguryo, Kang's team observes the escape of the Odyssey's engineers, but they are focused on the success of the launch. While preparing for the launch, they completely miss the person who is still on the platform. Dirk Pitt climbs down the platform and gets into The Badger. He aims the submersible, which was designed to drill core samples, at a rear support column and drives the core probe into the column. He reverses and surges forward again, driving the probe into the column again. Again and again, he does this, creating several holes, allowing water to get into the support tanks.
