Chapter 53 Summary

Dirk Pitt, Jr. and Jack Dahlgren raced to the sea launch platform in the submersible, The Badger. It reemerges under the Odyssey, and the two men get out, tie the submersible to the platform, and climb up the ladder. They observe Kang's team herding the sea launch engineers into a shed and locking them in, where they will die when the rocket goes off. They arm themselves with tools and split up. Jack hides inside a motorized platform and drives it toward a couple of the guards. The guards inspect the moving platform, and Dahlgren attacks with his ranch, knocking one out. He is just about to be attacked by another guard, when that guard is dropped by Dirk. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, the bald assassin stands.....
