Chapters 23 and 24 Summary

The Sea Rover releases its submersible with Dirk and Summer inside. They take the submersible down to the depths and begin their inspection of the sunken submarine. At first, their exploration reveals no porcelain canisters, designed for biological warfare. Close to the sub, they send in a smaller remote operated vehicle that could get into places their submersible could not. The remote camera explores for some time, but they cannot find any of the torpedoes. They move the submersible carefully into the sub but get stuck. They can hear the Sea Rover, but the sub's hull is blocking them from responding and it is calculated that there is only about three or four hours before they run out of oxygen, but they decide to explore with the remote operated vehicle. While they are exploring, they come across the weapons they had been looking for.
