Chapter 2 Summary

While the green eyes from the last chapter do belong to Dirk Pitt, it is revealed in this chapter that they more accurately belong to Dirk Pitt, Jr. Sarah awakes to find herself on a science vessel belonging to NUMA where she meets her savior, who arranges a date later with her. She learns that, although the meteorologists died, she and her fellow scientists survived, because they were exposed to the same airborne toxin but at a much lower potency. Pitt and his friend Jack Dahlgren take a helicopter back to the island to investigate. Based on wind patterns, they are able to determine the direction from which the airborne toxin came from. It is not long before they come upon a fishing trawler. Right away, they notice that there is something wrong.....
