Beatriz Soria

Beatriz Soria can perform miracles, but she prefers not to. She lives with her parents in the small, remote desert village of Bicho Raro and is much closer to her emotionless father, Francisco, than her hot-blooded mother, Antonia. Her best friends are her two cousins: Daniel and Joaquin. She is the middle cousin and is 18 years old in this novel. Beatriz is known in her town for being quite unique. People refer to her as the girl without emotions and often describe here as being, "Serene and eerie" (10) because she never shows her emotions outwardly. She is left-handed, has nine fingers, and loves experimenting and solving puzzles more than anything in the world. She is an oddball when compared to the other Sorias.
