All the Crooked Saints Overview

All the Crooked Saints, by Maggie Stiefvater, is a miraculous narrative set in the dry Colorado desert in 1962. The book centers on the Soria family living in a ramshackle desert village known as Bicho Raro (or weird animal). The Sorias have been performing miracles for pilgrims for centuries, and they continue their tradition in the time of Elvis and when radio is king. Life in Bicho Raro is tough because the Sorias are not allowed to help the pilgrims complete the miracles they give them, yet the pilgrims never leave because they do not know how to complete their miracles. The town is turned upside down when they learn a Soria has broken the rules. Readers meet several characters that struggle between believing in spiritual miracles and trusting in logical science.
