Summary

Pete wakes up in the car the next morning. He tries to find someone who will lead him to the work he was promised, but no one will open their doors or reveal themselves. He decides to jump in and help Michael build the lodge without asking for permission to help. Antonia spots Pete and recognizes him as the boy coming for work and not for miracles. She takes Pete to a pilgrim house, where he is put in a room with a man named Padre Jiminez. He is a former priest who now has a wolf’s face while ridding himself of his darkness.
