Daniel's watch is a symbol of Laura's feelings for him. Although she hated him for calling her a gimp and being cruel to her, some sick part of herself wanted to see him again. So, she stole his watch in the hopes that it would mean they got to see one another again.

Key

Laura's key is a symbol of her involvement with Daniel and with Miriam's interference in the investigation. When Miriam finds Laura's key near Daniel's body, she assumes Laura's guilt, but decides to defer attention away from Laura's guilt and onto Carla in the hopes that Theo will be hurt in the process.
