Summary

In Chapter Eleven, Gwen tracks down Godfrey in a tavern. Seeing the cut on her face, Godfrey asks what happened. When Gwen tells him that Gareth tried to have her killed, she sees real concern on his face. She asks why he has returned to drinking and is surprised to learn that Kendrick has been arrested, one of the factors that made Godfrey feel he needed a drink. As Kendrick is set to be executed, Gwen insists they must do something. Gareth says he will go and visit the cottage of a witch from which he saw Gareth coming from a few days prior. Gwen decides to go and pay Kendrick a visit. Before she leaves Godfrey, he gives her a dagger hidden in a block of wood which he insists she keep with her to protect herself.
