Chapter 1, Prologue, Maester Cressen Summary

Maester Cressen is at Dragonstone, the home of the Targaryens. He watches a red comet in the sky, which he thinks may be a bad omen. Maester Pylos comes and tells him Shireen and her fool, Patchface, want to see the white raven, which has just arrived from the Citadel. The raven signals the decade-long summer is over. Shireen tells Cressen about her dreams of dragons that are coming to eat her, but Cressen says there aren't dragons living anymore. Shireen said she heard the servants saying the red woman, Melisandre, said the comet in the sky is Dragonbreath. Shireen thinks dragons are coming back to life. Pylos brings the white raven to them.
