Summary

In Chapter 20, Jake described the continued tumultuous relationship between Oswald and Marina. They fought more frequently and he hit her more often. She left him a few times but always returned. Jake watched Walker, the man whom Oswald would try to kill, when he appeared on Channel 9 speaking against communism and against integration. Jake was ready for Oswald’s attempted murder of Walker. He thought he would be able to determine if Oswald was acting alone and then shoot him, stopping the Kennedy assassination. Jake was ready to return to his life with Sadie. One day, however, he saw Marina talking to one of the neighbors and realized she was pregnant again.
