Objective

This book is an autobiographical book. The objective of this lesson is to review some major aspects of Dorothy Day’s life, and to discuss how having this book autobiographical affects the plot and the feeling of the book.

Lesson

1) Life Review of Author: Provide a brief overview of Dorothy Day’s life. Split the class into groups, and assign each group one of the major events from her life. Instruct each group to study their event and write about how this event would have shaped her life and affected her writing style. Allow each group to present their information. Discuss some of the different ideas that are presented.
