Objective

Stephen King is one of the most popular suspense writers of our time. Many of his books and short stories have been adapted to movies. Today's objective is to learn more about King, his life, his work history, and his inspiration.

Lesson

1) Class discussion: Introduce Stephen King as an immensely popular suspense writer. Ask who has read any of his books or who has seen any movies based on his books. Ask the students what they already know about Stephen King.

2) Small group: Divide the class into four or five groups. Give them internet access and assign each group to report back about one of these areas of King's life: childhood, college, first three published works, working as a teacher, and writings adapted for movies. Return at the end of the class period to share information.

3) Class discussion: develop a time line showing King's published writings...
