Daily Lessons

This section contains 30 daily lessons. Each one has a specific objective and offers at least three (often more) ways to teach that objective. Lessons include classroom discussions, group and partner activities, in-class handouts, individual writing assignments, at least one homework assignment, class participation exercises and other ways to teach students about the text in a classroom setting. Objective: Part 1, Chapters 1-5 The beginning of the book relates George Kracha's journey from Hungary to America in the fall of 1881. Although George receives instructions from a brother-in-law in America about some of the dangers to immigrants, George takes it lightly. He thinks that he knows all about the dangers already.
