Lesson

1) Library research: Have students research the author, Douglas Coupland. Explore the other works he has written, as well as his background. Take a look at interviews and the author's website to gain information on his writing and how Generation X fits in with his other novels. After researching, and compiling their research into a report, have students present their report to the class.

2) Class discussion: Discuss the following questions with the class:

a) What can researching the author's background and his other works tell the reader about the novel?
