Character Descriptions

This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. Characters

Aung San Suu Kyi - This person wrote an open letter to the military government in Burma calling for democratic elections and later published a compendium of writings about democracy and human rights.

Aung San - This person founded the Burma Independence Army (BIA) and the Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League (AFPFL), then was assassinated.

Ma Khin Kyi - This person became active in the Burmese nationalist movement and later became the ambassador to India.
