Object Descriptions
This section provides a short description of all the major objects in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.
Objects
Foot Binding - The Chinese custom of wrapping young girls' feet in tight bandages so the feet will not grow normally.
Imperial Examination - This is a provincial-level test administered once every three years. Students who pass with honors are qualified for high-level jobs in government.
Gold Mountain - The Chinese colloquial name for America, the land of free money and an easy life.
