Fun Classroom Activities
The 20 enjoyable, interactive classroom activities that are included will help your students understand the text in amusing ways. Fun Classroom Activities include group projects, games, critical thinking activities, brainstorming sessions, writing poems, drawing or sketching, and more that will allow your students to interact with each other, be creative, and ultimately grasp key concepts from the text by "doing" rather than simply studying.
1. Map creation
Create a map of the settlement. Be sure to include Brand's house, the Ice-Church, the "Old Church," the "New Church," the fjord, the woman's house (across from the fjord), and the town meeting place.
2. Fire and Brimstone- A sermon
Find a "fire and brimstone" audio clip. Play this for the students. Ask them to discuss the pros and cons of this type of speech.
3. All or Nothing- Clay work
Give every student a piece of modeling clay....
