Objective

Section 1: Introduction

The objective of this lesson is to look at Anne's life, how she started writing, and how the lessons she learned can get us started writing too.

Lesson

1) Class Discussion:

Anne grew up in a reading household with a father who was a writer. How did this affect Anne's values and impact her life? Do you think Anne would have been a writer if that influence was not in her home?

2) Small Group Activity:

Anne is encouraged to read all types of writing, including plays, novels, and poetry. Why is it important to expose yourself to all types of writing? Divide the class into 3 to 4 groups have each group brainstorm an answer to this question. Have them list as many types of writing as they can come up with in the given amount of time.
