Character Descriptions
This section provides a short description of all the major characters in the book. This can be printed out as a study guide for students, used as a "key" for leading a class discussion, or you can jump to the quiz/homework section to find worksheets that incorporate these descriptions into a variety of question formats.

Raphael Lemkin - This person was nominated for the Nobel Prize five times and coined the term "genocide."
Major General Romeo Dallaire - This person was the commander of the UN peacekeeping mission in Rwanda when the Tutsi genocide began.
Bob Dole - This person was a Republican Senator from Kansas at the time of the Bosnian and Srebrenica genocides.
William Proxmire - This person was a Democratic Senator from Wisconsin who lobbied the U.S. to ratify the genocide convention and gave a daily speech about genocide on the Senate floor from 1967...
