Body Image
Essay Grade: 83%   (1,307 words, approx. 4 pages)
Bodies in America are no longer a quality unique to each person as they once were. Females especially are told through the media and by males how they are "supposed" to look, no matter how their bodies are naturally shaped. Female body image is an ever-lurking thought haunting women's minds. So what is the "right body to have as an American woman? Is there even such a thing? The standards for a woman's body, are generally not shared by my community. While in a predominately white community, women are expected to be five feet seven with very little body fat; the classic tall and thin body type--the body of a model, the curvey body is the goal of all American women. There is a happy medium between an anorexic supermodel and an overweight fast-food junkie.
Boys Vs. Girls: a Parent's Point of View
Essay Grade: 75%   (893 words, approx. 3 pages)
Society has stereotyped little girls into a frills and lace, prim and proper, almost doll like personification. Society, at one time, viewed little boys as "Tonka" truckin', dirt and mud lovin', ornery little monsters. Today we still see some of those characteristics. However, some of those listed have actually crossed over into the other.
