Generally, the purpose of Western education is seen as to benefit the Africans. The truth is different. Europeans educated Africans solely for the ability to exploit these people of their labor and intellect. Western education for Africans during the colonial period was not beneficial to the Africans, and was actually destructive to their traditional society.
