Hand sewing is a very ancient form of art that was practiced by early people for more that 20,000 years ago. In the beginning sewing was very primitive. Needles of bones or animal horns and threads of animal sinew. In 1755 in London, a German immigrant, Charles Weisenthal, patented a needle designed for a mechanical sewing machine. Unfortunately there was no machine made for it until 1790, when Thomas Saint, the cabinet maker from England, created a complete sewing machine.
