Summary

Liz Lighty walks to her lunch table, clutching her tray before Derek Lawson brushes her aside. He begins to sing and dance to ask his girlfriend, Rachel Collins, to prom. Liz cringes at the level of spectacle and attention of the “promposal” and she cannot help but think about how jealous she is that nobody is planning to ask her to prom. She looks over at her former friend, Jordan Jennings, and wishes that he would ask her. Liz waits to receive an email from Pennington College about a scholarship that she applied for. She is desperate to get out of the high school environment at Campbell. Liz’s friend, Gabi, asks her if she knows where Jordan’s girlfriend, Emme, has gone. She has been absent from school.
