Summary

In Chapter 27, Mark and Chloe went to their old house for the séance. Chloe stayed downstairs to talk to Connie while Mark went upstairs to talk to Jacob. The more questions Mark asked the boy, the more convinced he became that Jacob was lying. He tried to intimidate the boy into telling the truth, but Jacob would not admit anything. Mark still wanted to believe that Brendan was there, so he and Chloe could be happy like they had been, so he went into the hall alone and tried to speak to his son. He heard footsteps, but then realized that it was only Jacob’s cat.

In Chapter 28, the psychics arrived and everyone gathered for the séance. Mark was about to protest, when Jacob admitted to the room that he lied. Chloe wanted to continue with the séance, but...
