Chapters 16-20 Summary

In Chapter 16, the innkeeper Bill awakens Richard and Kahlan to warn them that two huge blond men have arrived. They are the second quad, sent by Darken Rahl to kill Kahlan. They sneak away, speeding to the cottage of the bone woman, Adie. Kahlan is surprised to learn that Adie knew her mother before Kahlan was born. The old woman gives Kahlan a bone to hide her from the dead. She says that Richard's own tooth necklace does the same thing, but she gives him a glowing night stone to be used only in emergencies. Adie treats Zedd and Chase, but says that it will be five to ten days before they recover enough to travel. Richard and Kahlan cannot wait that long to find the box of Orden.
