Lia drives to her mother's house for the evening, even though she has no desire to be in the neighborhood where she and Cassie grew up. As she drives past Cassie's house, she remembers the first time she saw Cassie vomit in the bushes. They were eleven-years-old and Cassie had eaten an entire tray of brownies. Cassie had been away at summer camp and learned all about binging, purging, laxatives, and diuretics from the other girls there.
