Summary

Chapter 18 – While waiting for Amy to be released, Rich gets a phone call from Robin, telling him that Kaya was hurt in an accident while being watched by a negligent neighbor. She also tells him that while she was taking care of Kaya, Beanie almost choked on a part from a toy. Both kids, she says, are shaken but okay. As he talks with his wife, Rich flashes back to the many things about family life that he both loves and has neglected, because of Amy. Robin speaks sharply to him; Kaya speaks sensitively to him; and, after the cell phone signal dies, a nurse appears, telling Rich that in a short while, the anesthetic is going to wear off and Amy’s arm is going to hurt.
