Summary

In “Chapter 16,” Ivy left Roux’s apartment and went to Thanksgiving with her parents and Gideon’s parents. Her brother, Austin, also joined them. He was several years younger than her and was supposed to be graduating college soon. However, he had dropped out because of mental health issues. His doctors said he was deficient in vitamins, but nothing seemed to help his depression. All he ever wanted to do was sit in his room and play video games. He gained weight and lost it quickly, and he was socially awkward. Ivy was nervous to have both families together. Her mother and grandmother embarrassed her by asking about how much the house cost. While they were eating dinner, her father announced he wanted to pay for the impending wedding. Ivy was horrified at the thought of the 200-person guest list Gideon’s mother...
