Summary

Andy Sims, a struggling PhD student living in Philadelphia, finds it difficult to complete his dissertation due to distractions from his roommate Lester and Lester's girlfriend Bronwen, who frequently engage in sexual activities. One day in June, Andy receives a text from his old friend Hannah, who asks him to house-sit in rural Vermont for three weeks while she tends to her sister in California, who recently suffered a back injury. Andy accepts the job because it provides an opportunity to work on his dissertation while away.

Accompanied by Lester and Bronwen, who drop him off before embarking on a camping trip, Andy learns during the drive that Bronwen is haunted by a ghost. Interestingly, she only sees the ghost when she's with Lester, which explains their compatible relationship. On the journey, Andy receives text messages from Hannah, providing details about the house...
