Chapter Five Summary

It takes only two weeks before everyone is talking about the bird, but like Gabriel, it doesn't take long for Cullen to realize that if he saw the bird himself, he wouldn't tell a soul. Lucas comes into the store and announces that he's found a date for Cullen - not that Cullen is looking. At first Cullen refuses outright, but when Lucas tells him that it is with Alma Ember. She is returning now to Lily, and Lucas infers that she is ready to experience something she previously hasn't. The date is set for seven that evening, with Mena and Lucas picking Alma up around six. When Lucas pulls up at just after seven, Mena kisses Cullen's cheek and Lucas makes introductions. They drive to one of the drive ins that still remains and Alma does her best to convey...
