Summary

Sam discovers Miel in the coffin, and tenderly lifts her out of it, bringing her back to his house. While they are there, Miel suddenly wants to make alfajores, a traditional Spanish dish that she had grown up regularly eating. However, while the two of them begin to make the dish together, they suddenly begin to passionately make love to one another.

Later, in the chapter "Lake of Joy," Miel asks Aracely if they can go buy and then carve a pumpkin together, as the town is about to do their annual tradition of floating lit jack-o-lanterns in the river on one specific night. This pleasantly surprises Aracely, as Miel had previously been deeply afraid of pumpkins throughout her entire life (on account of her traumatic memory with her mother).
