“Wendy, Waiting” is a seven-stanza free-verse poem by American poet Sandi Leibowitz, a speculative poet and founder of a now-defunct literary magazine devoted to speculative poetry. This poem follows the events of the literary fairy tale “Peter and Wendy,” which later came to be known as “Peter Pan,” and uses Wendy’s experiences in the ordinary world as a way to examine themes of mortality, social expectation, and regret.
