Chapter 16 Summary

Wren and Maggie arrive back at the old Sanctuary. Wren wants to get Marvin, his monkey, and the rest of his belongings and move out. Nicolette tries to play nice, but Wren tells her that she has betrayed him, and he will never forgive him for it. He can't necessarily blame her for wanting to protect her children, though.

Wren, having all of his belongings, wishes he and Maggie back to Maggie's cottage. They tell the monkey to go find his room, close the door, and they make love on the countertop. The monkey starts to scream just as they are finishing. Someone is pulling into the drive. It is Maggie's father with two private detectives dressed in black suits. Her father bangs on the door, and Maggie lets him in. He proceeds to scold her for missing a week of school and...
