Summary

One day, while bringing Davy home from school, Cushla is stopped by Father Slattery, who warns her that she is becoming too involved with the boy; she has even started paying for his school lunches. Cushla ignores this and brings Davy home, where Tommy invites her in to meet his father, Seamie, who is finally home from the hospital. Cushla is horrified by the state Seamie is in and breaks down crying when she gets home to Gina. Michael calls her, and despite the fact that she does not want to see him, she cannot bring herself to say no. They have sex, but are interrupted when a drab car pulls into Michael’s driveway and then backs away.
