Dirk Pitt

Dirk is a self-assured military man cum ocean explorer cum spy, who always happens to be in the right place at the right time. He is immune to the fears of a normal person. He and his sidekicks always have time to offer up a wisecrack regardless of whatever danger they're currently facing. In James Bond-fashion, Dirk always gets the girl and is not at all opposed to a one-night stand. As one young woman puts it, Dirk is a fabulous lover but not the kind of man to marry. He does, however, have complete loyalty for his friends.
