Summary

In “Chapter 19”, Kai and Maggie see that Longarm is in the crowd in front of Tah’s burnt house. Kai convinces Maggie to let him try and find out information. In the crowd, Maggie asks onlookers if they had seen Tah. Maggie sees Kai walking with Longarm and notices he’s handcuffed. She sees Longarm beat him and before he is able to shoot him she attacks, shooting him in the face five times.

In “Chapter 20”, Kai sees what Maggie has done to Longarm. Kai tells Maggie that Longarm told him that Tah was dead. Maggie knows Kai needs medical attention and that they will have to hide from the Law Dogs. They go to seek refuge at Grace Goodachre’s, a woman who hates the Law Dogs and takes in people hiding from them. Grace and Maggie talk, with Grace reminding her...
