Tracy Flick

Tracy Flick is the main character and one of the first person narrators of the novel. In the narrative present, Tracy lives in Green Meadow, New Jersey. She has one daughter, Sophia. She has joint custody of Sophia with her ex-lover Daniel. Daniel was Tracy's professor in graduate school. They had an affair, which would have dissipated rapidly into memory if Tracy had not gotten pregnant. Because she was still in school at the time, Tracy planned to terminate the pregnancy. At her ailing mother’s behest, however, Tracy decided to go through with the pregnancy. She was surprised when she told Daniel the news and he insisted upon being a part of the baby’s life.
