Summary

In Chapter Ten, Cole continues to cling to life. He feels helpless and that feeling is intensified when he uses the bathroom in his clothes. He no longer has enough energy to feel angry. The next morning, Cole's resolve to live grows stronger, even as he is growing weaker. He knows he needs food. He pulls up a handful of grass and chews it up. He tries to swallow but it gets stuck and he gags until he vomits it back up. He then sees the wad of grass on his chest. He picks it up and eats it, chewing it more carefully this time.
