Summary

In Chapter 18, as Jenkins bicycled alone into Argentina, found himself surprisingly happy to be alone. He felt a sense of possibility, like he could be a new person. In the city of Salta, he was hosted by a woman named Laura. Jenkins was surprised to find that Laura lived in a large house in a very affluent community. While at Laura’s house, Jenkins saw news that the actor Robin Williams had committed suicide. The next day, Jenkins saw news that Harry Devert’s body had been found dismembered on a beach in Mexico. Officials concluded that he was killed by a drug cartel. Jenkins was shaken by the news, realizing that it might just as easily have been him who died instead of Devert.
