Perspective

The book is written from the perspective of the author, Ron Chernow, and is presented from the third person point of view. There are plenty of quotes and dialogue due to the intense research of the author. The use of the third person allows the author to provide the background details that are necessary, especially for a book of this nature.

Rockefeller and his life, and this he does, from the humble circumstances of his birth to his death in Florida several weeks before his ninety eighth birthday. In the process, he tells the exciting story of Standard Oil and the business practices of the latter part of the nineteenth century. The author presents most of the action from John D.
