Thursday Next

The heroine of the novel, Thursday Next is a literary detective for Jurisfiction, the police of fiction in the BookWorld. Formerly a government agent in the real world, Thursday Next has continued her work freelance. She owns a carpeting store in Swindon, but it is a front for ex-operatives to continue their work, capturing exotic creatures and protecting the real world from villains of fiction who have escaped their books. Thursday Next has a strong relationship with her husband Landen, a writer, but has been lying to him for fourteen years about her special ops work in BookWorld. In a previous book, Thursday promised Landen that she would quit the dangerous business and settle down.
