Summary

I: Lynette and Sarah were living in Harlem in August 2005. They were attending the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival as their family members in New Orleans evacuated in anticipation of Hurricane Katrina. Sarah's brothers Carl and Michael remained in East New Orleans and were at the Yellow House before the storm hit.

II: Carl went to his girlfriend Monica's house, though she and her children had evacuated. He fell asleep and woke up in the middle of the storm. Carl went up to the attic, but as the water continued to rise, he cut through the ceiling and sat on the roof where he would remain for days.
