Summary

In Part 5, “Starstruck,” Chapter 20, “Nicole, 6 Months Ago,” Janice informed Ray he would be “soloing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra” (204). It was “the top orchestra in the world” (204).

Two days before playing at Carnegie Hall, Ray played “with the Erie Philharmonic” (204). Through this performance, he met a violist named Nicole. Afterwards, Ray regretted not getting her number.

After a successful performance at Carnegie, Ray encountered Nicole again. She had come to see him play. Afterwards, they went out. They got along well, and spent the night together. The following morning, Ray received an invitation from David Talbot, “an executive producer at 60 Minutes,” to be on the show (213).

In Chapter 21, “60 Minutes, 5 Months Ago,” Nicole and Janice came to see Ray play with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. 60 Minutes was filming the performance. Ray was nervous, but Nicole’s and Janice’s encouragement reassured him...
