Chapters 22-30 Summary

In Chapter 22, D'Artagnan meets with his hired soldiers and a fight ensues. The fight is settled and D'Artagnan prepares to leave for England.

In Chapter 23, Dumas threads his story with major events in French history. Dumas is not incredibly fond of the dry facts of history but finds it necessary to include them in the book. In Chapter 23, Dumas states: "In which the Author, very unwillingly, is forced to write a Little History" (Chapter 23, p. 168).
