Summary

The next morning Ami comes over to Olive's apartment first thing as Dane had told her about Olive losing her job. Ami is unaware of all of the other factors that are causing Olive anxiety in this moment. Ami tells Olive that their uncle has already agreed for her to work at Camelia, his nicest restaurant. Olive is so emotionally wrecked that she struggles to show Ami her excitement and tells her she needs to talk to her about Dane.

Olive asks Ami if she remembers when Olive first met Ethan at the State Fair. She continues, "Apparently Ethan thought I was cute, and when he mentioned to Dane that he wanted to ask me out, Dane told him not to bother" (328).
