Summary

In "Thick as Thieves," two weeks later, Derek was still pestering Dara about their family house. When she told Charlie, he assured her Derek would soon be done and out of their lives.

Marie returned late from lunch with Derek. She told Dara they had gone car shopping. Neither Dara nor Charlie understood why she needed a car. Ever since their parents' death, Marie had hated driving. When Dara arrived at the studio the next morning, Derek and Marie emerged from the attic. Derek made odd comments about Marie, Dara, and Charlie's former life together. He accused her of kicking Dara out. Dara said Marie had "abandoned" them (141).
