Summary

As November arrives, Lucille begins to make craft objects out of fallen leaves. Arthur observes that the house is littered with craft objects Lucille creates. He takes pleasure in the presence of the two women in his house and they've transformed his life, including the hearty food Lucille prepares. Arthur visits Nola's grave and thinks about how he will be accompanying Maddy to her obstetrician's office, where he could hear the baby's heart. However, Arthur is aware that there is an ulterior motive, as Maddy and Lucille would like him to see a doctor about his waning appetite and declining health. Arthur does not care about his health and has come to terms with his old age, with no desire to live a longer life than necessary.
