Lauren makes her way to the Commons to eat lunch. She is not feeling very good about herself—her looks or her state of mind. Lauren sits with her friends, Roxanne and Judy, and learns that another mutual friend, Sara, is pregnant and plans an abortion the next week. Lauren sees the square Freshman Steve coming her way and pretends she doesn't see him. Lauren is embarrassed since Steve is just a Freshman. Lauren skips the rest of her classes and goes back to her room and moons over Victor.
